This road would open up and facilitate traffic movement to key industrial cement companies and learning institutions like Daystar university within Mavoko in Machakos Countyy. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority envisaged that the quarry loop (Mlolongo-Mombasa Road) serves major quarries that are a backbone to the construction industry in Mavoko, Nairobi and its environs. The Daystar loop serves an international university (Daystar University). The Kinani-EPZ Road will link traffic from Mombasa Road to the proposed greater Eastern Bypass.
Through this project, we aimed at informing the Government of Kenya on the engineering, economic, environmental and social impact of upgrading the road to bitumen standard. KIRI’s specific roles were consultancy services for the feasibility study, preliminary and detailed engineering design.
The proposed project roads traverse Mavoko municipality which is an industrial town that consists of turnkey residential developments, flower farming, learning institutions, business developments, quarrying, hospitality developments, cement factories, manufacturing industries and very active transportation sector.
