Scope of Service
- Design for rehabilitation and Augmentation of sewerage system:
- Environmental and social impact assessment study:
- Resettlement Action Plans; and
- Tender documents preparation
Project Location
Kapsabet.
The project is located in Kapsabet town, the headquarters of Nandi County in Kenya, covering the urban, peri-urban and rural areas. The urban area will be served by a sewer network of about 70km, while in the rural areas, on-site sanitation is proposed.
The piped sewer will gravitate into two proposed sewer treatment works and the polished effluent water discharge into Chebarbar river and Chebirbir Stream.
Busia Town
The project is located in Busia town, the headquarters of Busia County in Kenya, covering the urban, peri-urban and rural areas. The urban and peri-urban area will be served by a sewer network of about 102km, while in the rural areas, on-site sanitation is proposed.
The piped sewer will gravitate into two proposed sewer treatment works and the polished effluent water discharge into Alupe stream and River Okame.
Nambale
The project covers the urban, peri-urban ad rural areas of Nambale town in Busia County of Kenya. Its about 15km from Busia town. The urban area will be served by a sewer network of about 25.8km, while in the rural areas, on-site sanitation is proposed.
The piped sewer will gravitate into two proposed sewer treatment works and the polished effluent water discharge into Nambale stream that drains into River Okame.
Webuye
The project covers the urban, peri-urban and rural area of Webuye town in Bungoma County of Kenya. The urban area will be served by a sewer network of about 72km, while in the rural areas, on-site sanitation is proposed.
The piped sewer will gravitate into two proposed sewer treatment works and the polished effluent water discharged into Webuye stream that drains to Nzoia River.
Project Benefits
Some of the benefits of the sewerage system are:
- Reduce pollution of water bodies that provide water for irrigation and domestic use;
- Reduce cases of water borne diseases associated with pollution of water resources; and
- Enhanced economic growth of the town and its environs;
